The Lion, in contrast to the Ox is about taking over territory, bringing the government of God. It lets God rule and reign as He wanted to do in Israel in the Old Testament. He wants to take over the territory of our lives internally and then externally in our realms of influence like He has in using Heidi Baker in Mozambique. She and her husband have started over 15,000 churches in a Muslim country and care for over 10,000 orphans daily. Being able to speak forth and have things created, changed and destroyed by our spoken word. It is the power side of the equation like the Eagle. Some people think being a Christian is about always being a loser. We are meant to have Lion moments as well as Ox moments. Jesus exhibited both the Lion and the Ox. When He marched into hell and took back the keys of death from Satan or when He confronted the Pharisees, He was showing us His Lion side. How does it help us to know that God grieves? It is easier to give ourselves permission to grieve and to know it is normal. Whether we had good or bad parents, it important to grieve losses associated with them. We were created for perfect love and even the best parents will fall short of it. Each stage of grief takes us one step further in embracing pain and letting go of trying to avoid accepting the loss and its effects. The last stage of grief is reconciliation and forgiveness. It is possible that a person may need to cycle through all the stages again even after having come to resolution in certain areas. And as we become safer and safer in our relationship with Christ and others, our greif will automatically come forward to be dealt with. God doesn't want us to believe lies about Him and He wants to show us what He is really like. Once we begin to grasp how God really views us and feels about us, we realize He is delights in who we are and filled with joy at the thought of us. He focuses on what is right and good about you. And if someone accentuates what is “right” about you then it will precipitate growth in you. Think of David for a moment. Many people wonder how God could look at David and see someone who was "a man after His own heart" when David was as murderer and adulterer. But God saw what was good about David: his passion and David's efforts to walk with God through his life. Like David, God is most interested in what is right and good about us as well.
